Despite recent rumors, Will and Jada Smith look very much in love, and at home, in their adobe-style retreat in the Malibu mountains.
According to Jada, she and Will are very organic people and they wanted to create a family retreat that was full of natural craftsmanship and tied back to the land.
Their love of the handmade has resulted in a 25,000 square-foot home built by many hands: woodworkers; plasterers; metalsmiths; stonemasons; and upholsterers, along with the design of architect Stephen Samuelson who brought Will and Jada’s vision to life.
For example, the indoor-outdoor living room (pictured here) is airy and luxurious with custom-made lounge seating, kilim-and-leather upholstered wing chairs and jute-rope-covered columns.
Of course, the most organic thing of all is the au-natural view peeking through.
Their labor of (organic) love will be featured in the September issue of Architectural Digest, but until then, here’s a sneak peak inside.
