Move is currently looking for a talented individual to join our team in the role of Sr. Systems Administrator (Linux/Unix).

This position will be responsible for the day to day operation and support of Move’s web sites and infrastructure environments. Successful candidate must have demonstrated support and deployment of high availability Linux and Unix enterprise servers. Successful candidate must have demonstrated experience in creating and troubleshooting enterprise services that necessitate the understanding of the complex interactions between applications, server operating systems, network protocols, and client configurations. Candidate should be able to demonstrate strong problem-solving methodology and the ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization as well as external vendors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide 24/7 (on-call rotation) operational support for production servers and systems
  • Must also be able to multi-task and handle multiple projects while maintaining top rate service delivery
  • Installation, administration, monitoring and triage of all Linux/Unix server products.
  • Ability to maintain and assess all components necessary for server security management.
  • Ability to create and maintain all documentation and adhere to company standards and PCI/SOX policy and regulations.
  • Work with engineers and architects to define system standards, requirements and infrastructure architecture
  • Work with department managers and general IT staff to analyze and resolve problem involving Linux/Unix servers
  • Work with engineering and operational staff to ensure a successful release of all components from QA to Production.
  • Work on complex issues where analysis of situation and data requires an evaluation of intangibles and/or complex data relationships
  • Work with business units and creates reports on performance levels of established SLAs for applications.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on assigned systems and provide mentoring/training through hands on, formal/informal presentations
  • Provide architectural input and capacity planning strategies to ensure system scalability and functionality

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • 7+ years enterprise experience (100+ servers) in multiple Linux variants (preferably RHEL5, CentOS) and other Unix based operating systems (Free BSD, Solaris etc) in a large scale 24/7 environment
  • Expertise supporting and designing web applications using LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP/Perl) infrastructure
  • Experience with server clustering and load balancing technologies, preferably Citrix Netscaler
  • Expertise in hardening, testing and monitoring systems against possible security threats, with exposure to PCI and SOX standards
  • Must have experience with scripting, automation, and Cacti or other RRD monitoring tools
  • Excellent communication and project planning skills, highly organized, ability to complete high level projects with little supervision
  • Requires excellent understanding of network (internet & intranet) routing, TCP/IP, DNS, FTP, CIFS/NFS/FCP, SMTP, GSLB and other related internet protocols
  • Broad exposure to local and remote data center management through Serial Concentrators, KVM/IP, Bastion Hosts
  • Familiarity with SAN and NAS technology
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Computers or Business related field, or equivalent work experience
