The current issue of the FDIC Quarterly was released today. The issue includes remarks entitled “We Must Resolve to End Too Big to Fail,” which were delivered by FDIC Chairman Sheila C. Bair on May 5, 2011, before the 47th Annual Conference on Bank Structure and Competition sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

The issue also includes a report, The Orderly Liquidation of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. under the Dodd-Frank Act, which was published in April as an early release to this FDIC Quarterly issue. The report examines how the FDIC could have structured an orderly resolution of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. under the orderly liquidation authority of Title II of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act had that law been in effect in advance of Lehman’s failure.

This issue of the FDIC Quarterly also includes first quarter 2011 industry results from the Quarterly Banking Profile, which was released on May 25, 2011.
